Who are you?
We are a local non-profit facility founded to provide residential care in a homelike setting in the picturesque heart of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.

How many residents can you have?
We are licensed for 24 private rooms.

Facility Amenities
Three delicious meals a day from locally grown fresh food with evening snacks, transportation as needed scheduled events and entertainment, crafts and activities, housekeeping and laundry services, Library and Television room, Resident kitchen and dining area, 8 acres of beautiful wooded and landscaped countryside, vegetable and flower gardens.

Room Amenities
Rooms are very large with private Baths, personal patios or decks with private entrances, individual heating control. Satellite Television services and phone service are available.

Facility Services
Medication Disbursement if requested, Assistance with bathing available….basically anything our seniors need to live comfortably and with dignity

Wellness/Healthcare
We have nursing assistants awake and on the premises to assist you around the clock and 24 hour on call RN’s available on a moments notice.

Pricing
We do all we can to maintain modest private rates with eleven rooms reserved for people of limited income. Please contact us for our current room rates.

What kind of security do you have?
You'll find a very sophisticated emergency alert system in each room and bath for an immediate response in case of need. Also, we have staff on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and a fire alert system directly connected to the fire department. Our entire building is sprinklered with smoke detectors in all rooms.

How many square feet are in each room?
We have two basic designed rooms. The first with a handicapped shower consists of a room with 216 square feet. A closet of 10 square feet and a bathroom with a walk in shower of 50 square feet. The second consists of 241 square feet room, 10 square foot closet and bathroom with a tub and shower of 40 square feet.

How often do you raise the monthly fee?
The Board of Directors and Executive Director meet annually to review the facility budget. We typically look at any increase at the beginning of each calendar year and attempt to make no other increases during the annum.

Do you have a Security Deposit?
Yes. We request a $100.00 security deposit which is refundable when you leave should the room not require any repairs. If we do not have a room available and you wish to be on our waiting list, we request this deposit be paid at that time.

Are the rooms quiet?
Rooms are very quiet and well insulated. Construction is new which allowed for modern construction methods.

Are there kitchens in the rooms so that residents can cook if they choose?
No. Meals are provided in the sunny dining room and there is a residents’ kitchen available for your personal use. The chef takes into account special dietary needs of each resident, preparing healthy and delicious food. A salad bar service is available at the noon meal daily.

Do you have laundry service? (What is the policy?)
Laundry services are available to all residents; this service is included with your monthly fee. If you wish you may do your own laundry in the facility machines.

Do you have storage areas for residents?
We do have some storage space for each resident. Please contact us for the amount of space available to each resident.

What about housekeeping service? If it is available, how much does it cost?
Housekeeping is regulated by you. Staff will tidy your room daily, clean, sanitize, change bed linens and vacuum your room weekly. This service is included in your monthly fee

Do you have cable television?
No. A facility antenna will receive a minimal of stations at no cost. Satellite services are available should you wish to purchase it.

Do you provide respite care?
Yes we do, when rooms are available. We require a minimum of two weeks stay. Contact us for details and cost.

Are your rooms furnished?
With the exception of one room maintained for respite services rooms are unfurnished. Residents must provide their own furniture, linens and curtains.

Are guests permitted to eat with me in the dining rooms? If so, what is the cost?
Yes, your guests are welcome to join you in the dining rooms or in the private dining room when available. All you need to do is call ahead (a day in advance if possible) to make a reservation. The fee for guest meals can be found in the schedule of charges in the food service handout in the resident folder.

Do you cater to special diets?
We consider your diet. We plan our menus for nutrition and health as well as for flavor and appeal. Our tasty menu at each meal features foods to meet your medical needs as designated by your physician. We'll even please the finicky eater!

Is there assigned seating in the dining room?
Yes, however we will do all we can to make sure that you are satisfied with your seating arrangements.

Are waterbeds permitted?
Our building is structurally sound and can accommodate waterbeds

Is there an age limit?
Residents should be at least 65 years old. We do not have a maximum age requirement.

Is smoking permitted?
Only in designated areas outside the building. No smoking is allowed in resident rooms or any other place within the building.

Can we have pets?
Yes you may bring a pet with you. Cats and dogs less than 25 pounds are allowed as well as birds and fish. You are responsible for the care of you pets and cleaning up after them inside and out.

Are there individual heating and air conditioning control is each unit?
All rooms are equipped with individual heating controls. You may buy and put in an individual air conditioning unit in your room. The common areas are controlled by a sophisticated energy-management system for your comfort.

Are personnel on duty at night?
We have personnel on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If I become ill, what happens?
Our staff is available around the clock; each room is provided with emergency call systems in both the bedroom and the bathroom. If you require specialized care temporarily, we will help you arrange for it through a home health agency.

If I'm ill, will meals be brought to my room?
Yes, meals can be served in your room when you are under the weather.

How are the meals served?
Three homemade meals are prepared daily; special requests are handled as they come in. Coffee and tea are available throughout the day and we provide evening snacks to your room.

Do you furnish transportation?
We provide transportation to all of our activities outside the building. We have a limited number of volunteers that will drive residents to scheduled doctor and dentist visits. We request that families help when at all possible.

Is there public transportation nearby?
No

Are there recreation and exercise rooms?
Yes, we have areas for exercise, cards and crafts. As well as a library and television room

What do the residents do for phone services?
You may have a telephone installed in your room. This is an individual service and will be charged to the resident directly by the phone company.

What kind of activities do you have?
Activities are held within our building and elsewhere. Our activities director coordinates recreational activities, trips, special events and seminars which provide for a wide range of interests.

Do you provide medical services?
Residents must maintain there own personal physician. We will be happy to contact them for you when needs arise and arrange for appointments or changes in medication as necessary. Emergency transportation services are available to local hospitals.

Do you allow wheelchairs?
Our entire residence is wheelchair friendly. We will try in every way possible to serve your needs and to keep you as part of our family

Do you have a beauty salon or barber shop?
Barber and beauty services are available on the premises and are billed directly by the beautician.

Who pays for the utilities?
All utilities are included in your monthly fee.

What is done in the event of a noisy disturbance by a neighbor?
Because of the quality of construction, we do not anticipate that to be a problem in our buildings. If it ever is, you may be sure that management will follow up as a matter of courtesy and will attend to the problem

Are young children allowed to visit?
This is your home. Family and friends are always welcome.

What is Residential Care?
Residential care is a retirement-living alternative that offers seniors and their families the security and peace of mind they deserve. Residents are able to live independently in their own private rooms while receiving just the right level of service they need to stay independent. Residential care communities offer an extensive and varied program of services tailored to each specific individual. Other services include medication reminders and help with daily activities such as dressing, grooming, and bathing.
