Craftsbury Community Care Center Fall Fitness Challenge

Date: Starts Midnight, September 15, 2016 and ends Midnight, October 15, 2016

Description: See how much distance you can accrue in one month doing your favorite form of exercise (walking, biking, or running)

Who benefits from the 4C’s Fall Fitness Challenge: The purpose of the Fall Fitness Challenge is to generate funding for the annual maintenance expenses of the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail (LVRT), a recreational trail that spans the entire 96 mile width of northern Vermont’s famous Green Mountains and to help support operational expenses of Craftsbury Community Care Center (CCCC), a level 3 residential living center for seniors serving northern Vermont. 90% of all entry fees and donations will go directly to the LVRT Maintenance Fund (65%) and to CCCC (35%). The remaining 10% of donated funds supports expenses incurred from PayPal for banking services, fitRaise for promoting the event and tracking all the data, and CCCC for managing the event, and providing awards.

CCCC recognizes the lifelong health benefits of regular physical exercise which the LVRT makes available for so many folks who live nearby as well as those who use it as a vacation focus, traveling from inn-to-inn along sections of the trail. CCCC also recognizes maintenance of such a spectacular trail is key to its success over the long term.

How to Enter:

How the competition works: You can do your walking, running or biking anywhere, any place and any time within the beginning and end dates of the month-long challenge.  Distances can be tracked using MapmyRide, MapmyRun, FitBit, or the fitRaise provided tracker and plugged directly to the fitRaise platform, creating an accurate and fair record. We do ask, and not require, participants to attract at least 3 or more donors through broadcasting their participation using their preferred form of social media. Your entry will count as one donation. Donors can either donate a set amount per mile with a ceiling to protect them from over-achievers, or elect to give a specific amount to their chosen participant.

How the fundraising part works:  Each participant will receive their own promotional page from fitRaise to explain their participation in the 4C’s Fall Fitness Challenge and attract donors by using the page on their favorite form of social media. We ask each participant to attract 3 or more donors. Donors have the opportunity to put a ceiling on the amount they will donate to protect them from overachieving participants when pledging a rate per mile or they can elect to give a fixed amount. All donations each participant attracts will be handled directly by fitRaise. All participant and all team distances will also be tracked directly by fitRaise. Participants can utilize the fitRaise app, or Mapmyride, Mapmyrun and Fitbit to track their distances and have them captured by fitRaise. Non tech-savy participants do have the opportunity to send their distances directly to fitRaise via e-mail.  All awards and performance recognition will be provided by Craftsbury Community Care Center. Each participant will receive a participation certificate and trophies will be awarded to the individual event participants with the most distance accrued for three categories; bicycling, running/jogging and walking.  There will be traveling team trophy awarded for four categories; high school, college, corporations and commercial health clubs/fitness centers.
